Overview

The Service Letter Field Technician is vital in maintaining the seamless operation of our customer’s equipment and are responsible for implementing product updates and enhancements to machine safety, reliability and performance that maximize equipment’s runtime and productivity while ensuring they benefit from the latest advancement of Caterpillar technology.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission and values of BMC.
  • Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner, promotes and champions a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Provided Machine Software, Component enhancement to increase efficiency and/or reliability.
  • Travel to customer sites to efficiently install and implement software and hardware updates on a variety of Caterpillar machinery.
  • Follow comprehensive procedures and utilize technical manuals to ensure proper installation and functionality.
  • Clearly communicate timelines and next steps with customers throughout the service process.
  • Explain the purpose and benefits of the updates to customers in a clear and concise manner.
  • Document all work performed, and updates completed in a clear and concise manner.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while working on-site.
  • Manage all on-site installation, repair and maintenance and test tasks perform contract requirements.
  • Comprehend and perform the scope of work outlined in service agreement and all requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings while building positive customer relationships.
  • Will order parts as needed for repairs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance or a related field required.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules.
  • Familiarity with mobile tools and applications
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout South Carolina.
  • Possess strong problem solving skills, have the ability to set and keep priorities and be able to handle stress associated with a fast paced environment and deadlines.

Working Conditions

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside (non-climate controlled) and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
  • Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
  • Physical use of a broad variety of tools and machines in order to maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Must be able to lift varied weight.
  • Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
  • Use of computer and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
